Sharing Buckets of Love With Finger-Lickin' Goodness

Make the season bright and savor the joy of giving with KFC'S BUCKETS OF LOVE, a campaign to raise awareness and generate funds for conflict and disaster-affected areas in the country. Not only does KFC serve good dishes, but also moments that are just 'so good.'

Echoing the idea that hunger is not an issue of charity but rather of justice, KFC Philippines bolsters its longtime partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) through the said campaign. This year, KFC has pledged to donate 5.00 from every 8-pc. bucket meal and Php 1.00 from every 1-pc Crispy Butter Chicken sold from November until January of next year. Proceeds will be used to support WFP's efforts in rebuilding communities affected by Typhoon Yolanda while continuously supporting feeding programs in conflict-affected areas in Central Mindanao. Customers may also share their blessings through coin canisters found in KFC counters.

The organizers shared to us the story of Norhana. She used to go to school with an empty stomach and no packed lunch prior to the school feeding program. During lunchtime, she would rather give her share of food to her siblings and just wait for afternoon classes to begin. But thanks to KFC and the WFP, Norhana now receives a meal in school to help her perform better in class. Not only can we enjoy KFC's signature dishes, but also help in improving the quality of life of children and communities who will benefit from the Buckets of Love campaign. It tested that even small gestures can make a big difference.

General Manager for KFC Philippines Liza Leah Calma-Junio shared that "Beyond the so good experiences that we provide our loyal fans through innovative products and one-of-a-kind opportunities, we also make it a point to pay it forward by extending assistance to communities that need our support. KFC is a company that values sharing and likewise Filipinos are people who love giving. Buckets of Love gives them the channel to share what they have with those who need it most."

All Star Benefit Concert for Yolanda Victims

A benefit concert for the rehabilitation of Typhoon Yolanda victims is slated to take place on December 21, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the Citizen's Business Bank Arena, in Ontario, California.

Dubbed "Philippines Relief Concert: All Star Charity Show," the concert was the fruit of a conversation between Mr. John Gummoe of the Cascades, and Mr.Danee Samonte of Steve O' Neal productions. Both Mr.Gummoe and Mr. Samonte had heard about the desperate situation of the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda, and wanted to come up with a fundraising event. American musical artists, most of who have performed in the Philippines, heard about the devastation wrought by Typhoon Haiyan. They immediately wanted to get involved in this concert that would help raise funds for rehabilitation efforts.

More than 10 classic artists are set to perform on December 21. Among them -- John Ford Coley, John Claude Gummoe of the Cascades, Rex Smith, Ron Dante (the original lead singer of The Archies), Bobby Hendricks (from the original Drifters), Kyle Vincent, Frank Stallone, Classics UV, Dick and Dee Dee, Chris Montez, The World Famous Platters, Dennis Tufano (the original lead singer of The Buckinghams), and Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, and a special appearance by the "The Hitman" David Foster.

"Our audience can expect a night of great music and charity. We will walk down memory lane by listening to the greatest hits of these artists," says Eugene Flores, of All Access Concerts. "We can also enjoy the show knowing that with each ticket bought, 100% of the proceeds will have a direct effect on rebuilding the lives of the victims of typhoon Yolanda."

"Asian Journal and Balikbayan magazine is of course very proud to be part of this fundraising concert," publisher Roger Oriel said. "It has always been the aim of our publication to help uplift the Philippines, and this is another avenue by which we can channel our resources towards alleviating a very dire situation."

Proceeds of the concert will be coursed through Habitat for Humanity Philippines's Rebuild Philippines program and ABS-CBN foundation international.

MIRACLE ART EXHIBITION: The House of Living Art

It's definitely a whole new world as art imitates life in the MIRACLE ART EXHIBITION in Lucky Chinatown Annex A. Let your imagination loose and strike a pose as you merge with awe-inspiring multidimensional works of art to create fascinating illusions.

The Miracle Art Exhibition houses a vast collection of incredible art paintings in 4D. It's really hard not to be amazed by all these artworks with different themes from animals and nature, movies, and even well-known masterpieces to name a few. Visitors can interact to about a hundred of paintings inside the gallery; and with just the right angle, create a 3D effect where one becomes part of the whole portrait. Now that's the miracle.

One thing unique about the Miracle Art Exhibition is that it encourage visitors to actually touch and take photos of the paintings. I honestly think it's a step away from the "boring" stereotype of an art exhibit because it is more engaging. Me and some of my friends can surely attest to that.

With an entrance fee amounting to Php 300 for adults and Php 200 for students, Miracle Art Exhibition is certainly an ideal spot for friends and the whole family. So don't miss the chance to collect countless memories with them as you journey in a world of art like no other. Prep your creativity, strike a pose and get ready to shoot. Smile!
