Salute to the Bamboo Flag

The City of Makati proudly commemorates the Philippine Independence Day with a first of its kind PHILIPPINE BAMBOO FLAG MUSEUM. It was really very patriotic as we witness the unveiling of this unique art expression of the Philippine flag in one of Makati's major celebrations.

With a dimension of 5 feet tall and 50 sqm. area, the first ever Philippine Bamboo Flag Museum houses a vast collection of our country's rich history in an exhibit entitled "Grass: Routes of a Nation." Inside the Bamboo Museum, one would surely get struck with a great sense of nationalism as we bask in a wide array of the country's rich culture and history in display. The celebration was highlighted with cultural performances courtesy of the Palihang Hagonoy which performed the famous "Tinikling" among many world-class acts. We were also treated with a unique Filipino poetry, the "Balagtasan," and were serenaded by the Banda Kawayan of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with their musical performances using bamboo instruments.

Truly, the Philippines has endured harsh conditions and persevered honorably to rise above challenges and adversities. Like the bamboo, we stand as a nation standing proud, free, and ever resilient. All these makes us cherish our democracy and heritage even more, making us feel nothing less than proud to be a Filipino.
