HERO Foundation and the hero in every Juan

It's always rewarding to become part of a great cause. That's why I feel very honored to become part of HERO FOUNDATION's latest event, the launching of their redesigned donation box.

The "Dog Tags" Donation Box is like any other donation box except that it's filled with soldier's dog tags. Why dog tags? It symbolizes the "fallen soldier's supreme sacrifice to bring about peace, offering their lives to attain it." With that said, it wouldn't take much of our time to give back to our country's fallen heroes, particularly their children. With every help we can give, we can assist them to provide education to their children.

HERO Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1988 and has since been raising awareness about the plight (syn) of the children of soldiers who were killed or were incapacitated in line of duty. The late President Corazon Aquino and her then-administration's Defense Secretary Renato De Villa were the founders of HERO Foundation, Inc.

Launched a day before the Philippine Independence Day, the event was braced by HERO Foundation's very own ambassadors 6Cyclemind and Calla Lilly among many others and hosted by no less than broadcaster Ces Drilon at the 4th Floor Cinema Lobby, Trinoma Mall . HERO Foundation has already assisted over 2000 scholars and with our help, we can further extend their gallant cause.

There are many ways to help HERO Foundation. For one, we can donate via SMS for Globe and TM subscribers by keying in HERO <space> AMOUNT and send it to 2899 and for recurring donations, key in HERO <space> AMOUNT <space> ON and send it to 2899. Salute to the Bamboo Flag

The City of Makati proudly commemorates the Philippine Independence Day with a first of its kind PHILIPPINE BAMBOO FLAG MUSEUM. It was really very patriotic as we witness the unveiling of this unique art expression of the Philippine flag in one of Makati's major celebrations.

With a dimension of 5 feet tall and 50 sqm. area, the first ever Philippine Bamboo Flag Museum houses a vast collection of our country's rich history in an exhibit entitled "Grass: Routes of a Nation." Inside the Bamboo Museum, one would surely get struck with a great sense of nationalism as we bask in a wide array of the country's rich culture and history in display. The celebration was highlighted with cultural performances courtesy of the Palihang Hagonoy which performed the famous "Tinikling" among many world-class acts. We were also treated with a unique Filipino poetry, the "Balagtasan," and were serenaded by the Banda Kawayan of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with their musical performances using bamboo instruments.

Truly, the Philippines has endured harsh conditions and persevered honorably to rise above challenges and adversities. Like the bamboo, we stand as a nation standing proud, free, and ever resilient. All these makes us cherish our democracy and heritage even more, making us feel nothing less than proud to be a Filipino.

Make It Makati, MasterCard, Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin, Business Mirror, AXN, Banapple Pies and Cheesecakes, and Canon made this event possible. To know more about what's in-store in this grand celebration like the Independence Sketchfest and the installation of a giant chessboard in the Ayala Triangle Gardens, you can visit http://www.makeitmakati.com/ or  https://www.facebook.com/makeitmakati and https://www.twitter.com/makeitmakati

CARLO ROSSI: The Taste of Sweet Red

Acclaimed author Paulo Coelho wrote in his novel Brida, “All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.” And as soon as I had a taste of CARLO ROSSI SWEET RED, I was  certain it was among the "other" wines that would leave you wanting to drink the whole bottle. I sure did. :)

I attended an event last May 16 sponsored by Carlo Rossi where I got the chance to try out Carlo Rossi's latest offering, the Carlo Rossi Sweet Red. Held at the Richmonde Hotel, the night was filled with hearty laughs from old and new friends who enjoyed the occasion as much as I did. The live band serenaded the night with the right music to set the mood for that quality bonding time with Carlo Rossi Sweet Red making the good times even better.

Carlo Rossi Sweet Red offers a different kind of sweetness. But I think what makes Carlo Rossi Sweet Red more interesting is that it's a wine best enjoyed with ice. Believe me, we can still taste the rich, sweet flavors of the wine and it may even be smoother. I can surely say that the taste wasn't compromised. This wine on-the-rocks is surely a must try.

I really had a great time at the Carlo Rossi Event. Every chitchats, the games, the prizes, new found friends, delicious food and of course, Carlo Rossi Sweet Red were the highlights of that May night. The organizers really did well putting up such a fun night for us to share and experience all the goodness of Carlo Rossi Sweet Red. So make every special moment more memorable with Carlo Rossi Sweet Red.
