Spreading the love in Makati, the city showcased gravity-defying aerial dance routines and soothed the senses of its denizens with songs from the country's top balladeers during its Love is in the Air Valentine's Concert. Performances made the hearts of the audience excited, consoled, and in love as production numbers transitioned from acrobatic aerial dance to pop, acoustic, witty, and Broadway love songs. The concert was a testament to how Makati gives the people many reasons to fall in love with the city, the only city that makes it all happen.
Iya Villania together with the Power Dance opened the concert with stunning aerial acrobatics, one of the show's highlights, much to the crowd's delight. Set against sentimental ballads and the Ayala Triangle Gardens as backdrop, this poetry-in-motion spectacle was a sight to behold.
There's no denying that love is pop music's favorite theme. As they say, no matter what kind of relationship you're in, there's bound to be a pop love song for you. Truly, Isabel de Leon serenaded the audience with her own vocal styling of pop love.
Australian Idol Vincent Bueno also courted the crowd with his own brand of pop love songs before joining Isabel to perform Way Back Into Love in an aerial guitar duet while flying through the air. Everybody was satisfied with their portrayal of love and its many melodic facets.
Daughter of Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma, Isabella Gonzales, highlighted the perfect marriage of musical and performance art with her acoustic rendition of love songs. Definitely everyone in the crowd felt a personal connection with the songs with the acoustic compliment bringing out the purity of music and love's strong emotion.
They say sense of humor is one of the secrets to a lasting relationship. Love is in Air concert emphasized this as ladies swooned after Philippine Volcanoes hunks Chris Everingham, Eric Tai, and Andrew Wolff, adding flair and fun to this romantic evening.
It was romantic and fun as these hunks invited ten pairs of couples to perform the Gangnam Style together on stage. Down to the top three, couple number nine won the crowd's vote and championed the competition.
Theater favorites Denise Laurel, Sheila Valderama, and Lorenz Martinez took the crowd down memory lane as everyone listened to timeless love classics from the Broadway, proving that these theater classics are music beyond time which appeal to all ages. Fresh from its movie debut, songs from the famous Les Miserables by Victor Hugo was the center of their heartwarming performances.
The finale brought all the artists back on stage with Iya doing another aerial dance and joining the rest of the cast as they performed a powerful ending by singing a contemporary arrangement of All We Need is Love and Love is in the Air. With its culmination, it was without doubt that the Valentine's Day concert spread love in the country's leading city for business, lifestyle, entertainment, and culture.
Love is in the Air was made possible by Ayala Land, Ayala Land Premier, Alveo, Avida, Amaia, Ayala Malls, The Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin, Business Mirror, and Canon.
